Leadership skills are an important part of success and the development of these should not be left to chance. Leadership skills are learned through experience and from role models, but this is not always enough. Focused leadership training improves performance, but more importantly it enhances wellbeing and effectiveness.
Leadership is an abstract concept, we can identify people we believe to be 'great leaders' in society and history. If we are lucky we can also identify people we know personally who inspire or motivate us. The challenge however is not to identify ' the great and the good' but to identify what it is they do - what is different about their behaviour, then we can learn to do it too.
Effective leaders have learned skills which enable them to motivate others to follow. There are four core components to leadership around which our programmes are developed.

Self Awareness
Are you your greatest asset or your harshest critic? How well do you really know yourself and your potential? Leadership skills revolve around you as an individual, what behaviours you favour and what motivates you or holds you back. During our leadership programmes you will rediscover your values, your passions and your strengths through a combination of activities, personality testing and introspection. This will enable you to evaluate your behaviour and the
impact you have on others. It will help you develop leadership styles compatible with your inherent strengths. Equally it will help you avoid pitfalls because you understand your own responses to situations. Effective leaders play to their personal strengths, they do not try to adopt behaviours which feel alien.
Positivity
Leaders are positive - in their attitudes, their direction and their responses. Leaders create opportunities, they take risks and they act. Being positive is not down to chance or personality, it is learned behaviour. Being positive is about creating solutions and learning to be lucky. We have a range of activities to help you discover your current perspectives on luck and our programmes will help you develop tools to “improve” your luck and to enhance your positivity.

Focus
For leaders focus means several things. Primarily it is an ability to look beyond ourselves, to focus on those around us and on what we are trying to achieve. This necessitates vision and the ability to create direction. Following this leaders need to be both decisive and proactive to ensure action. In our programmes we look at tools for enhancing creativity and developing vision, as well as considering a range of problem solving strategies using examples bought by participants. Influence
This is perhaps the most fundamental skill of leaders, without the ability to influence others a leader may have no followers. All of the above components depend on the ability to influence others, but your ability to influence relies on understanding the impact you make. Our programmes use a variety of methods to help you benchmark your current behaviour and identify strategies to enhance your skills to ensure you make the impact you want. Having a vision that others want to be part of is important, but it is more important to have the ability to sell that vision to others. This is easier if you are positive, credible and have integrity. Our programmes will help you maximise your influence and ensure you have a range of communication skills for different situations.
